All digital units are small computers that hold and play programs from memory. Older model units that load programs into memory from cassette tape are still available but chip and USB units have almost completely eclipsed them. As authorized agents for every major manufacturer, we sell all brands of playback units but recommend either our new 9000 series of players and player/adapters or our new USB Thumb Drive units that play mp3 files which we e-mail to you. We also carry both analog and digital remote programmable (telephone line download) units. We do not sell and, based on technical analysis, do not recommend either CD loadable digital MOH players or regular consumer CD players.

Hold On AMERICA solid-state digital players are available in 3,4,6,8,9,12,16 and 18 minute lengths to fit the needs of almost any type of business (program length is determined by the amount of memory installed in the unit) Our USB Thumb Drive players can store up to two hours of audio files in mp3 format which can be turned on and off by simply "hiding" or "unhiding" the files.

.While we can produce your on-hold programs in regular CD format on compact disks, if you prefer, we do not recommend or sell CD players. If you'd like a consumer grade CD based system, we suggest purchasing a "Walkman (tm)" or "boombox" type player at a store that sells good extended warranties (Circuit City offers an excellent one). These units usually have battery back-up capabilities too, as well as on-board amplifiers powerful enough to drive most telephone system's music-on-hold functions. CD players made to plug into home stereo systems or professional sound gear typically have no battery back-up or internal amplifiers and are not recommended for on-hold use. This is one instance where the less expensive product usually works better.

If your telephone setup does not have a KSU (Key Service Unit control box), and your telephones are simply plugged directly into phone lines, you can still have messages-on-hold by utilizing an "on-hold adapter." The adapter gives your single or multi-line phones the same on-hold capability affored by telephone systems costing several thousand dollars for a fraction of the price. There are two models of adapters, one for up to two lines and another four-line unit. Be sure to let your Hold On AMERICA representative know whether or not you'll need one or more adapters.
